Kids’ Expo on the Western Slope

Kids’ Expo Registration Form
Kids’ Expo is a free annual event in May for children and families at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville. Families enjoy hands-on activities and children’s performances. It is a great opportunity to spend a fun day with the family and learn about community resources. This event is supported by local sponsors and community donations. Day of the Young Child in South Lake Tahoe
Day of the Young Child is a free annual event in for children and families in South Lake Tahoe where families enjoy hands-on activities. It is a great opportunity to spend a fun day with the family and learn about community resources. This event is supported by local sponsors and community donations. Community Gift Tree on the Western Slope
This annual event in November is a collaboration between organizations in the community that serve low-income families and local businesses. Choices for Children, the El Dorado County Office of Education, Happy Kids Preschool, CASA, and Alta Regional all select their neediest families to participate in the program. Gift cards that identify the needs and wishes of children are placed on trees throughout the community. Community members then select one or more cards, purchase gifts, and drop them off at convenient locations. Cash donations are accepted throughout the year. These community Hubs help families prepare their children for school. Community Hubs offer classes, groups, and activities for expectant parents and families with children ages 0–18, staffed by a team of family engagement, literacy and health specialists.


New Morning Youth & Family Services
Offers services and support for young children, teens, and parents as well as a 24-hour youth shelter.  Services include counseling, therapy, and parenting classes. 


Infant Parent Center
Infant Parent Center is designed to promote baby wellness and prevention by offering help and support for expectant families and children 0–3 years.

The goal of the council is to provide leadership for the planning and development of quality, accessible, affordable early care and education programs for children and families in El Dorado County.


First 5 Alpine
